Kaleidoscopic frogs and progress...

... I just liked the sound of "kaleidoscopic frogs" and although it will never make complete sense, I'm sticking with it!

I was hooking away at about 6.30am this Sunday morning, as I woke early and decided to get up. I opened the french doors and sat in my rocking chair with a coffee and my crochet, listening to the birds and enjoying the early morning sunshine. A very large flock of geese flew overhead and I wondered if they were migrating for the winter... I really enjoy getting up early on a Sunday sometimes and just having a couple of hours to myself.

The kaleidoscope blanket wasn't "singing" to me this week and I think it was the dark purple mass of hexagons which were to blame, so I pulled them out. Is it called "frogging" when work gets unravelled? This latest blanket development is the "frog" reference in the post title... never a delightful task frogging, but satisfying overall.

Now the dark purple has gone I'm a lot happier with how things are progressing.

Wishing you a calm sunny Sunday x

***Anne's comment below made me laugh, as well as making the term "frogging" make more sense:
"Yes it is called frogging from the sound of ripping it out: rip it rip it rip it....lol!!!" ***

  1. It's looking great so far. I love the colours you have used and I like to see your progress. I'm addicted to making little hexagons now, I feel really virtuous using up my old stash, it means I can buy more and not feel guilty. Sue

  3. This color combination is fantastic--it's so "you" but at the same time the randomness is different from all the other things you've made so far and it is lovely too.
Maybe--just maybe!--you can get me motivated to starting something bigger than I usually make! :)
    Have a wonderful sunday :)

  5. It's beautiful. You are so quick. As for the dark purple, I too cannot seem to crochet with it, especially with a rainbow of other colors. I tried it in my ripple blanket, and I also frogged it. It just doesn't go.

  7. The great thing about crochet is you actually can "frog" it. From what I hear, knitting is not as easy to unravel. Friday and Saturday are our weekend so Friday is usually when I get up early before the rest of the family and enjoy my quiet time. Saturday I sleep in. And Sunday it is bak to school. Have a great rest of the day. Tammy

  8. Greart progress... I agree about the purples... maybe because it isn't one of my favourite colours, but I do think less is more :)x

  11. This looks absolutely great and sometimes, when I'm really unhappy with something I've made, I kind of enjoy frogging because it means a step forward and not back as it may seem at first...have a nice day,

  12. The hexagons are looking great. Agree about the purple in this case, but you could turn them into a cushion cover, or maybe put them around the edge? Love to see what you're up to. It inspires me. Thanks.

  13. It is looking good! I do love purple though, Maybe the odd one or two would have looked ok on the top left, but we have to be happy with what we are making or it turns the whole project sour, you just keep going with your instincts and you are going to have one stunning blanket. I love to get up early and crochet too, it's the best part of the day:)

  20. This is a fun posting, with lots to reply to.

It's good that you've figured out what complement of colors suit your colorway. Yet, I do hope that you are holding on to that color you've sent to the discard pile. It's bound to find some wonderful pals in the deeper colors, either warm or cool.

Isn't playing with colors fun...and doesn't crocheting make play easier than does knitting?

    Cheers!

  21. Wow you crochet so fast it takes me ages. I love the way you have thrown in a darker colour randomly to mix it up a bit. I think it makes it more inquisitive on the eyes.
