Scissors and vintage linen...

You may remember I bought a beautifully embroidered linen cloth a while ago with crewel work flowers in each corner.... it has been living in a cupboard ever since its five minutes of fame on the blog, as it just wasn't big enough for our dining table or any table come to that. So, I cut it up and so far I've made two cushion covers from it. Now the beautiful embroidery is admired every day...

The instructions on how to make the panel for the cushion are in "A passion for patchwork" by Nicki Trench.

I'm so happy with the results; I will probably make the other two panels into cushion covers at some point. My next project of the sewing variety is going to involve log cabin patchwork I think; although there is an idea whirring around in my head involving some long forgotten bamboo handles and crochet.

I'll leave you with this picture of a lily that decided to bloom during the torrential rain on Saturday... oh those colours are just wonderful against the lush green. Isn't nature wonderful...

The suns out here today... hope it manages to find you too x

  7. Really ;ovely cushion. I blogged about my cushion creation a few days ago - I used some cross stitch I'd done, then added a bit of patchwork and finished off with some thrifted sheet.
Gorgeous lily, I'm hoping mine will soon be out - you wouldn't believe how many lily beetles have suffered for their sake!

  15. Lovely cushions! I like the way you've used fabrics that tone with the colours in the embroidery. It brings the whole thing together really well.

    Great work!
